O GOD, heavenly Father, who by your Son Jesus Christ hast promised to all those who seek your kingdom, and the righteousness thereof, all things necessary to their bodily sustenance; Send us, we beseech you, in this our necessity, such moderate rain and showers, that we may receive the fruits of the earth to our comfort, and to your honor; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. 1928 Book of Common Prayer

1 Praise the LORD.
Praise the LORD, O my soul.
2 I will praise the LORD all my life;
I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.
3 Do not put your trust in princes,
in mortal men, who cannot save.
4 When their spirit departs, they return to the ground;
on that very day their plans come to nothing.
5 Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob,
whose hope is in the LORD his God,
6 the Maker of heaven and earth,
the sea, and everything in them—
the LORD, who remains faithful forever.
Psalm 146 New International Version

Father,
You are my Strength and my Salvation.
During this time of trouble and chaos, I depend on You. I find stability in my faith. My current situation may be uncertain, but Your love is as certain as the dawn. When doubt overwhelms me, I meditate on Your Word. No matter how unstable my world seems to be, You are my sure Foundation. Thank You, Lord, for Your promise to walk beside me throughout my journey, lifting me up when I'm weak and keeping my feet steady on the path. Amen.
(From "Everyday Prayers for Everyday Cares")

1 O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you;
my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you,
in a dry and weary land where there is no water.
2 I have seen you in the sanctuary
and beheld your power and your glory.
3 Because your love is better than life,
my lips will glorify you.
4 I will praise you as long as I live,
and in your name I will lift up my hands.
5 My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods;
with singing lips my mouth will praise you.

the Presentation of the Augsburg Confession (Click on link to follow)

Father,
You are my Strength.
Whenever I need it, I know that Your strength is available to me. It is always there to empower me to do the right thing, to continue to fight the good fight of faith. I come to You right now, in need. Thank You, Lord, for hearing me and filling me with supernatural power to do what I must do. Thank You for giving me all I need to accomplish Your plan for my life. Amen.
(From "Everyday Prayers for Everyday Cares")

1 God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble.
2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
3 though its waters roar and foam
and the mountains quake with their surging.
4 There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
the holy place where the Most High dwells.
5 God is within her, she will not fall;
God will help her at break of day.
6 Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall;
he lifts his voice, the earth melts.
7 The LORD Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.

the Nativity of John the Baptist (Click on link to follow)

Almighty God, by whose providence your servant John the Baptist was wonderfully born, and sent to prepare the way of your Son our Savior by preaching repentance: Make us so to follow his teaching and holy life, that we may truly repent according to his preaching; and, following his example, constantly speak the truth, boldly rebuke vice, and patiently suffer for the truth's sake; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

1 O LORD, I call to you; come quickly to me.
Hear my voice when I call to you.
2 May my prayer be set before you like incense;
may the lifting up of my hands be like the evening sacrifice.
3 Set a guard over my mouth, O LORD;
keep watch over the door of my lips.
4 Let not my heart be drawn to what is evil,
to take part in wicked deeds with men who are evildoers;
let me not eat of their delicacies.
5 Let a righteous man [a] strike me—it is a kindness;
let him rebuke me—it is oil on my head.
My head will not refuse it.
Yet my prayer is ever against the deeds of evildoers;
6 their rulers will be thrown down from the cliffs,
and the wicked will learn that my words were well spoken.

Father,
I find renewal in You.
I am tired and stressed. Therefore, I come to You for new strength. Every morning Your mercies are fresh, and every night I rest in Your care. Though my day may frazzle me, when I take time to be with You I am refreshed and renewed. You calm the storms of my life, and I find peace in Your presence. Thank You, Lord, for pouring out Your grace on my life again today. Amen.
(From "Everyday Prayers for Everyday Cares")

1 Help, LORD, for the godly are no more;
the faithful have vanished from among men.
2 Everyone lies to his neighbor;
their flattering lips speak with deception.
5 "Because of the oppression of the weak and the groaning of the needy,
I will now arise," says the LORD.
"I will protect them from those who malign them."
6 And the words of the LORD are flawless,
like silver refined in a furnace of clay, purified seven times.
7 O LORD, you will keep us safe
and protect us from such people forever.
8 The wicked freely strut about
when what is vile is honored among men.

Alban the Martyr

Breathe in me, O Holy Spirit, that my thoughts may all be holy.Act in me, O Holy Spirit, that my work, too, may be holy.Draw my heart, O Holy Spirit, that I love but what is holy.Strengthen me, O Holy Spirit, to defend all that is holy.Guard me, then, O Holy Spirit, that I always may be holy.Amen.
- St. Augustine

1 In you, O LORD, I have taken refuge;
let me never be put to shame;
deliver me in your righteousness.
2 Turn your ear to me,
come quickly to my rescue;
be my rock of refuge,
a strong fortress to save me.
3 Since you are my rock and my fortress,
for the sake of your name lead and guide me.
4 Free me from the trap that is set for me,
for you are my refuge.
5 Into your hands I commit my spirit;
redeem me, O LORD, the God of truth.
